The former Rogers Department Store buzzed Thursday with more than 200 workers who are 28. Transformation Street SW behemoth into one of the largest in the Midwest independent display furniture.

"This saves a lot closer to the people at 28th Street," he said.

All but one of the entrance that used to surround Rogers has been a display window, jutting from the building.

The only remaining customer entrance on the east end of the building, where people will be greeted with a corridor of what David Israels said the latest furniture fashions.

The change reflects the difference between a department store and furniture store, general manager Israels said.

"In a department store, you often want to walk to the department in which you want to shop," he said. "In our facilities, which will run throughout the store to see what is available."

Most items on the floor of a room is available for purchase directly or in a place.

There is also a magnet, a goal that will attract people from around the Midwest.

"This store will be marketed to the entire state of Michigan, to Illinois, to Louis, because there is enough reason for them to come here to see the things that they will not find anywhere in the Midwest," he said.

Furniture will fill 150,000 square feet of showroom space in three floors of the 170,000 square foot building.

The lower level will include what David Israels think will be one of the largest selection of bedding in the country.

There are also plans for a cafe, children's furniture area, children's play area (for a while Mom and Dad shop), a carpet and rug department with more than $ 2.5 million value of stocks, and furniture gallery with a price range in most .

"One thing really unique about the extent Klingman brand customer service," said David Israels.

Israels closed Klingman's Centerpointe Mall store earlier this year and, until Monday, while the store has been operating in Lansing to keep employees busy and sales flow.

Lansing is also a shop that is designed to test the market appetite for that location Klingman.

Since buying the former Rogers site - many thought the white elephant will remain empty much longer - there are very few surprises.

"The building is very good," said David Israels. "It's become a very good construction site to work through."

"But you must take risks to get rewards," he said. "Yes, there is risk here. But there are a lot of previous experience, a lot of research that has been entered into planning this, and we will really have to fold this does not work the way we put it together."

Wyoming City Manager Curtis Holt Klingman's coming to see as an opportunity to improve the quality of the whole business.

"I think our whole business Street 28th excited to have a community here," said Holt. "Obviously, we are very happy that the building work and work, but we're also pleased that we will have that type of store, the quality of our store in the community."
